Concept Plan Approved For Grassy Creek Development

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Maddox Companies received planning commission approval of its conceptual master plan for Grassy Creek, a 30-acre commercial development in Northwest Knox County. The site, located at the intersection of Oak Ridge Highway and Schaad Road, is being developed by Maddox Companies as a neighborhood retail destination.

Maddox Companies is working with various retailers and restaurants interested in being a part of Grassy Creek development, and it is expected to spur new economic growth for the surrounding area.

“This is going to be the best development at the intersection of two new five lane highways,” developer Steve Maddox said. “This economic boost and road improvements will provide new amenities for all of Knoxville.”

The extension and widening of Schaad Road is funded and on track to be completed by Knox County within 24 months. This expansion will connect Interstate 75 north of Knoxville at Callahan Road to Interstate 40/75 in West Knoxville at Lovell Road. Additionally, Oak Ridge Highway has recently been widened to five lanes from the Grassy Creek site east to I-640 in Knoxville.

In June of 2017, Maddox Companies received the Knox County Commission for rezoning of the Grassy Creek development to a CA zone, consistent with the location’s character at the intersection of two major arteries in a rapidly growing section of Knox County.
